Conductor Daniel Villanueva

Daniel Villanueva was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Mr. Villanueva has traveled extensively across the United States and Canada to study, teach, and perform. In 2011 and 2012 he was chosen as one of two New Mexico representatives to play Horn for the National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute hosted at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. In 2014, Daniel returned as a staff member for the SMI and conducted a performance of Stravinsky’s Soldiers Tale on the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage. Since 2015 he has worked as a music educator and conductor in both Texas and New Mexico as an Assistant Director with the Westlake Chap Band in Austin, TX and Simon Rivera High School in Brownsville, TX. In 2019 he returned to New Mexico as a Conducting Graduate Assistant at the University of New Mexico, and has since conducted several local ensembles including the Albuquerque Concert Band, Symphony Orchestra of Albuquerque, and the ESSO (Santa Fe). Daniel currently resides as the Director of Bands of Volcano Vista High School.
