Front of House Manager

SFCO Concert and Education Programs:

Each season, the Santa Fe Community Orchestra presents 5 high-quality concerts, 2 Friday evening Educate Your Ear programs, 2 Readings of New Works by New Mexico Composers, and a biennial Composition Competition for New Mexico Composers of all ages. Our programs take place in Santa Fe's premiere performance venues including the James A. Little Theater, St. Francis Auditorium, the Lensic Performing Arts Center, and the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assis.

Job Summary:

Coordinate front of house activities: venue (which may include house lights) programs, and volunteer ushers. Welcome guests and special performers. Oversee donation collection.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare concert venue.
    • Prepare entrance for guest arrival
      • Set up tables for brochures
      • Set out donation box, raffle cash box, and raffle signs
      • Set up signs
      • Designate reserved seating for guests from retirement homes, special needs guests, and students participating in special programs like Side-by-Side
      • Clear handicap and wheelchair spaces as needed
      • Set up extra chairs in front as needed
    • Transport needed supplies.
    • Stuff programs; collect after concert, remove and save unused forms/envelopes.
    • Train/supervise volunteers; keep contact lists, communicate often with Friends of the Community Orchestra (FOCO).
    • Coordinate Special Events:
      • Purchase/serve student’s snacks for Side-by-Side concerts
      • Purchase flowers for soloists
      • Provide table cloths, etc., needed for event
    • Create a welcoming atmosphere for the audience.
    • Resolve audience-related problems as they arise, coordinate seating of special guests.
    • Close concert hall. Return it to pre-concert state.
    • Collect, count and record donations.
    Hours required: 5 Sunday Concerts: 12:30 to 5:30, 5 Friday evenings: 6:00 to 8:30
  • Skills desired:
    • Team player with excellent people-skills, organizational talent and professional demeanor.
    • Previous ushering/house management experience very helpful.
    • Appreciation of classical music is beneficial.
    • Ability to lift up to 25lbs.
    • EMT training a plus.
